The Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise, part of the HSE Dublin and Midlands Health Region, is inviting applications for the position of Clinical Midwife Manager 2 (CMM2) in the Outpatients Department. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced midwife to take on a leadership role in a progressive and supportive maternity service.

About the Role
As Clinical Midwife Manager 2, you will oversee the Outpatients Department, coordinating high-quality, patient-centred midwifery care. The successful candidate will lead, support and develop the team, ensuring that evidence-based practice underpins all service delivery within the outpatient maternity setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Outpatients Department midwifery team to ensure effective, safe, and compassionate care.
- Promote clinical excellence through mentorship, education, and adherence to HSE standards.
- Oversee clinical governance, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and national maternity frameworks.
- Coordinate antenatal and postnatal services, ensuring smooth patient flow and continuity of care.
- Contribute to audit, risk management, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.
- Support the implementation of training in foetal heart monitoring, PROMPT, neonatal resuscitation, and Infant Feeding Programmes.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Midwife on the live Register of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Depth and breadth of experience in the midwifery profession relevant to the Outpatients Department.
- Evidence of up-to-date training in:
- Foetal Heart Rate Monitoring
- PROMPT (Practical Obstetric Multi-Professional Training)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Programme
- Infant Feeding Programme
Preferred
- Postgraduate qualification in Midwifery Management or Healthcare Leadership.
- Experience in service development, audit, or quality improvement within maternity services.
