Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise, part of the HSE Dublin and Midlands Health Region, is recruiting a Clinical Midwife Manager 2 for the Outpatients Department. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and support high-quality midwifery care in a dynamic hospital environment.
About the Role
The Clinical Midwife Manager 2 (CMM2) will oversee clinical and operational functions within the Outpatients Department, ensuring the delivery of safe, evidence-based care in line with HSE standards. The successful candidate will play a pivotal leadership role in developing midwifery practice and supporting multidisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate midwifery services in the Outpatients Department.
- Supervise, support, and mentor midwifery and nursing staff.
- Promote excellence in clinical practice through audit, education, and quality improvement.
- Ensure compliance with HSE clinical governance and patient safety standards.
- Collaborate with obstetric, gynaecology, and neonatal teams to enhance patient care pathways.
- Manage rosters, resources, and performance reviews effectively.
- Contribute to policy development and service planning initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Significant post-registration experience in midwifery, including leadership or supervisory experience.
- Evidence of up-to-date training in Foetal Heart Rate Monitoring, PROMPT, Neonatal Resuscitation Programme, and Infant Feeding Programme.
Preferred
- Experience in an Outpatients or Maternity Hospital setting.
- Postgraduate qualification in Leadership, Management, or Midwifery Practice.
