Join Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, part of the HSE Dublin North East, as a Senior House Officer (SHO) in Emergency Medicine. This role offers hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced emergency department, supporting patient care and development within one of Ireland’s leading acute hospitals.
About the Role
As a Senior House Officer in Emergency Medicine, you will work within a multidisciplinary team managing acute presentations across all age groups. You’ll gain exposure to a broad range of emergency cases, contribute to clinical decision-making, and participate in departmental teaching and audit programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and manage patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- Carry out initial investigations, treatment, and referrals as required.
- Participate in ward rounds, clinical meetings, and multidisciplinary discussions.
- Supervise and support interns and medical students.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
- Engage in ongoing clinical audit and continuous professional development.
- Contribute to the improvement of patient flow and departmental efficiency.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registered or eligible for registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC).
- MB, BCh, BAO or equivalent primary medical qualification.
- Relevant experience in acute or emergency medicine.
Preferred
- ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certification.
- Prior experience in an Irish or UK Emergency Department.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.

- Salary Scale (as of 1 August 2025): €54,203 – €74,133 per annum (7-point scale, HSE Pay Code 1012).
