University Hospital Waterford is seeking two Consultant Otolaryngologists (ENT Surgeons) to join our dynamic surgical team. This is a permanent, wholetime (37-hour) post within the HSE Dublin and South East health region, offering the opportunity to contribute to high-quality ENT care across the South East.
About the Role
As a Consultant Otolaryngologist, you’ll provide comprehensive ENT surgical services at University Hospital Waterford (UHW), collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams. This position supports a regional network delivering advanced diagnostic and operative otolaryngology care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver elective and emergency otolaryngology/ENT surgical care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and regional service planning.
- Supervise and mentor NCHDs and trainees.
- Lead quality improvement and audit activities within ENT services.
- Engage in continuing professional development and teaching.
- Participate in on-call rota and cross-cover arrangements.
- Contribute to service development in the South East hospital group.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Full registration with the Irish Medical Council (Specialist Division in Otolaryngology).
- Minimum of seven years’ postgraduate medical experience, including substantial ENT practice.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership and multidisciplinary teamwork.
Preferred
- Fellowship in Otolaryngology or Head & Neck Surgery (FRCSI/FRCS(ORL-HNS) or equivalent).
- Experience in research, audit, and teaching at consultant or senior registrar level.
