The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking a Temporary Consultant General Physician (Endocrinology) to join Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown. This is an opportunity to contribute to specialist endocrine and general medicine services in one of Dublin’s major teaching hospitals.
About the Role
The successful candidate will deliver consultant-level clinical care in general internal medicine with a focus on endocrinology, working as part of a multidisciplinary hospital team. This Specified Purpose Wholetime post is based in Connolly Hospital, within the HSE Dublin and North East health region.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consultant-led clinical services in endocrinology and general internal medicine.
- Manage inpatient and outpatient endocrine cases.
- Supervise junior medical staff and support education initiatives.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes.
- Participate in on-call and rota commitments as required.
- Contribute to audit, clinical governance, and research programmes.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registration as a Specialist in Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine with the Irish Medical Council (IMC).
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications (e.g. MRCP, FRCP, or equivalent).
- Proven clinical experience at consultant or senior registrar level.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and teaching skills.
Preferred
- Experience within the Irish public health system.
- Demonstrated involvement in service improvement and clinical research.
What We Offer
- Grade: Consultant Physician in Endocrinology (Code 1066).
- Salary: As per HSE Consultant Salary Scales (effective 1 August 2025) – between €233,527 and €280,513, depending on point of scale.
