Clerical Officer – Administration – Health and Safety Authority Dublin & Regional Offices

We are now inviting applications for the position of Clerical Officer (CO) — a key administrative role supporting the Authority’s operations nationwide.


About the Role

As a Clerical Officer, you will contribute to the efficient delivery of administrative, operational, and customer service functions within the Authority. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing, purpose-driven organisation committed to making Ireland’s workplaces safer.

The Clerical Officer role is varied and dynamic, with assignments across several divisions including Corporate Services, Accreditation, and Occupational Safety. Your duties will involve both internal coordination and external communication with the public, ensuring high standards of service delivery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work effectively as part of a team-based environment within the assigned division or contact centre.
  • Maintain accurate and well-organised records and databases in accordance with the Authority’s standards.
  • Liaise professionally with internal and external stakeholders, responding to queries and requests.
  • Provide administrative support, including word processing, filing, data entry, and document management.
  • Assist in the organisation of meetings, seminars, and conferences, including taking minutes and preparing materials.
  • Deliver front-of-house and reception cover when required.
  • Support line managers and team leads in day-to-day operational tasks.
  • Contribute to the achievement of team goals and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Exercise sound judgment and make routine administrative decisions within defined guidelines.

Required Qualifications

Essential

  • At least a Grade D (pass) in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate, or an equivalent/higher qualification.
  • A minimum of one year’s experience in an office administration or clerical support role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and confidence using databases and digital systems.

Desirable

  • A recognised qualification in Business Administration or Secretarial Studies.
  • A third-level qualification in Safety, Health, and Welfare.
  • Proficiency in the Irish language.
