About the Role

HSE Dublin and North East is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Tissue Viability, Wound Management, and Lymphoedema/Lipoedema/Chronic Oedema to join the community healthcare team in County Meath.
This key specialist role supports the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based nursing care across wound management and lymphoedema services, ensuring effective prevention, assessment, and treatment within community and primary care settings.

You’ll play an essential part in enhancing patient outcomes, collaborating with Public Health Nursing, multidisciplinary teams, and primary care clinicians to advance best practice in tissue viability and chronic oedema management.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced clinical expertise in Tissue Viability, Wound Management, and Lymphoedema.
  • Lead and coordinate specialist services for lower limb care and chronic oedema.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based treatment plans for patients in community settings.
  • Deliver education, mentorship, and professional guidance to nursing and healthcare staff.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated care pathways.
  • Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and service evaluation.
  • Maintain up-to-date professional knowledge and contribute to the development of national HSE standards and guidelines in tissue viability.

Required Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (RGN) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Proven depth and breadth of nursing experience in Tissue Viability, Wound Management, and Lymphoedema/Lipoedema/Chronic Oedema.
  • Certification in Lymphoedema Management, including Manual Lymphatic Drainage from a recognised school, or willingness to complete this qualification upon appointment.
  • Access to appropriate transport, as the post involves travel throughout the service area.

Desirable

  • Completion or willingness to undertake the Nurse and Midwife Medicinal Product Prescribing Programme.
  • Experience in developing or implementing community-based specialist nursing services.
  • Strong leadership, education, and communication skills.
