About the Role

As a Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (Mental Health), you will provide clinical and managerial leadership within designated units, supporting multidisciplinary teams and ensuring the highest standards of nursing care. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Nursing, you’ll contribute to patient safety, care planning, and the implementation of HSE quality initiatives across acute and community mental health services.

Salary (effective 1 August 2025):
€56,642 – €66,705 per annum (8 points)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate nursing teams to ensure safe, effective, and person-centred mental health care.
  • Support clinical governance, audit processes, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Supervise and mentor nursing staff and students in accordance with HSE policies.
  • Manage rosters, resources, and risk assessments in collaboration with senior management.
  • Promote recovery-oriented approaches and compliance with the Mental Health Act.
  • Foster positive communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Participate in service planning and implementation of HSE strategic priorities.

Required Qualifications

Essential

  • Active registration with An Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (NMBI) in the psychiatric division.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience in mental health nursing.
  • Demonstrated clinical, leadership, and team-management skills.
  • Proven knowledge of HSE quality standards and patient-safety frameworks.

Desirable

  • Management or leadership qualification (e.g., QQI Level 6 or higher).
  • Experience in acute or community mental health settings.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and audit systems.
