About the Role
As a Staff Midwife, you’ll deliver compassionate, evidence-based care across antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal settings. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll contribute to clinical excellence, patient safety, and continuous service improvement.

Location: Regional Hospital Mullingar, Co. Westmeath
Contract Type: Permanent – Whole-time
Health Region: HSE Dublin and Midlands (Longford, Westmeath, Offaly, Laois, Kildare, and parts of Dublin South and Wicklow)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, holistic midwifery care across clinical areas.
- Carry out midwifery procedures, clinical interventions, and patient observations.
- Manage daily ward operations and ensure safe medication administration.
- Participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support health promotion and patient education in maternal and newborn care.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in multidisciplinary communication.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Registered (or eligible for registration) as a Registered Midwife (RM) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Demonstrated clinical competence and experience within maternity or acute hospital settings.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Proven ability to deliver safe, evidence-based care.
Preferred
- Experience in a busy acute maternity unit or tertiary-level obstetric service.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and quality improvement.
