Hastings Insurance is seeking an experienced IT Systems and Support Specialist to join our growing team in County Mayo. This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in maintaining and improving the technology infrastructure of one of Ireland’s most trusted insurance brokerages.
We are looking for a motivated IT professional with expertise in Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and network administration who thrives on solving problems, supporting users, and driving IT improvement initiatives.
About the Role
The IT Systems and Support Specialist will provide hands-on technical assistance across Hastings Insurance’s network of offices in Mayo, Sligo, Galway, Dublin, and Limerick. You will manage and support cloud platforms, endpoint security, user access, and local infrastructure, ensuring business continuity and operational efficiency.
You’ll work closely with internal teams and external vendors to keep our technology environment secure, efficient, and reliable — enabling colleagues to focus on delivering outstanding service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support to local and remote users.
- Diagnose and resolve software, hardware, and connectivity issues.
- Implement and manage the group-wide IT management suite.
- Support and maintain office hardware including VoIP phones, printers, and peripherals.
Cloud Infrastructure & Applications
- Manage and optimise cloud environments such as Microsoft 365/Azure and Google Workspace.
- Support SaaS applications like Applied Relay, HubSpot, and other insurance systems.
- Maintain file sharing, permissions, and backup policies across cloud storage platforms.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Administer endpoint protection, MFA, and EDR tools.
- Conduct security audits and ensure compliance with IT policies.
- Enforce security standards including password management and encryption.
Network & Systems Administration
- Configure and maintain firewalls, routers, and switches across multiple offices.
- Monitor VPN and WAN connections for performance and uptime.
- Troubleshoot network security incidents and log findings.
User Management & Access Control
- Handle onboarding/offboarding including email, access rights, and SSO setup.
- Manage Azure Active Directory and synchronised group policies.
- Maintain IT documentation for system configurations and user guides.
Projects & IT Improvement
- Lead IT projects including infrastructure upgrades and system rollouts.
- Evaluate new technologies to enhance business efficiency.
- Support IT budgeting, procurement, and vendor relationships.
Required Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in IT support or systems administration.
- Strong proficiency with Windows environments, Microsoft 365, and Azure AD.
- Excellent understanding of networking (TCP/IP, VPNs, firewalls, switches).
- Familiarity with cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, or Google Workspace).
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and documentation skills.
Preferred
- Experience implementing IT management or monitoring suites.
- Previous experience supporting multi-office organisations.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Microsoft 365 Certified, Azure Administrator Associate).
