Portiuncula University Hospital (PUH), part of the HSE West and North West Region, is seeking a Staff Grade Dietitian to join its multidisciplinary healthcare team in Ballinasloe, Co. Galway. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, patient-centred nutritional care, working collaboratively with colleagues across departments to improve clinical outcomes and promote health and wellbeing.
This is a permanent wholetime position open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants. The post offers a stimulating environment for professional growth and continuous learning in a busy university hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert dietetic assessment and evidence-based nutritional interventions to inpatients and outpatients.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualised nutrition care plans.
- Collaborate effectively with medical, nursing, and allied health professionals.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary case conferences and clinical audits.
- Support the development and delivery of health promotion and nutrition education initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in line with HSE policies.
- Participate in continuing professional development and service improvement projects.
Qualifications and Experience
- Hold a recognised qualification in Human Nutrition and Dietetics approved by the Department of Health.
- Be registered, or eligible for registration, with CORU as a Dietitian.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
- Experience in a hospital setting is an advantage but not essential.

Salary
As per the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales (effective 1 August 2025):
Dietitian, Staff Grade (3389): €40,325 – €67,619 per annum (dependent on experience and service, with LSIs as applicable).
