HSE South West is recruiting a Staff Nurse (Community) to join South Lee Public Health Nursing, Cork. This permanent wholetime role delivers community-based nursing care across South Lee with a focus on preventative, acute and chronic care in people’s homes and community settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver person-centred nursing care across home and community clinics in South Lee.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for adults, older persons and families.
- Support vaccination, wound care, catheter care, palliative and chronic disease management.
- Coordinate with PHNs, GPs, hospitals, HSCPs and voluntary agencies to enable safe discharge and integrated care.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to audit, quality and safety initiatives.
- Educate patients/carers on medication, self-management and health promotion.
- Participate in caseload reviews, MDT meetings and community outreach.
- Uphold HSE policies, infection prevention and control, and safeguarding standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- NMBI registration (RGN) and eligibility to work in Ireland.
- Full driving licence and access to transport for community visits.
- Evidence of recent acute/community clinical experience.
- Strong assessment, care planning, prioritisation and caseload management skills.
- Excellent communication, teamwork and patient education skills.
- IT proficiency for electronic records, email and virtual MDTs.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Salary (HSE 1 Aug 2025 scale, Staff Nurse General – Community 202X): €37,288–€55,477 per annum plus LSI, DOE.
- Contract: Permanent, wholetime (HSE).
- Benefits: Public sector pension scheme; leave and benefits per HSE policy; mileage/expenses per HSE rates.
- Hours: Full-time rostered hours across weekdays; occasional out-of-hours/community needs as required.
