Staff Grade Psychologist – Cardiology – Dublin South

HSE Dublin and South East are inviting applications for a Staff Grade Psychologist to join the Cardiology Department based in Dublin South. This is a permanent, full-time role open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants. The post supports psychological care for cardiac patients as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide psychological assessment and therapeutic interventions to cardiology patients.
  • Collaborate with consultants, nurses, and allied health professionals to support patient recovery.
  • Contribute to service development and the promotion of mental well-being within the department.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in clinical supervision.
  • Engage in research, audit, and continuing professional development.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • A recognised postgraduate qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology.
  • Registration (or eligibility) with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or equivalent.
  • Experience in health or hospital-based psychology preferred, ideally with cardiac or chronic illness populations.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and case management skills.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

  • Grade: Psychologist – Clinical (3689).
  • Contract: Permanent, Whole-time.
  • Salary: As per HSE Consolidated Pay Scales (effective 1 August 2025) for Psychologist, Staff Grade: approximately €58,599 – €99,295 per annum, depending on experience and incremental point (Department of Health Circular 6/2025).
