Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine – HSE – Wexford

The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking a Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine (Ref: MEGM3847) to join the Dublin and South East Health Region. This permanent part-time role involves a 50:50 split between Wexford General Hospital and Wexford ICPOP Hub, St. John’s Community Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive geriatric medical care and assessment for older adults.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across acute and community settings.
  • Participate in the Integrated Care Programme for Older Persons (ICPOP).
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor clinical and support staff.
  • Contribute to teaching, research, and quality improvement initiatives within the service.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Registered (or eligible for registration) on the Specialist Division of the Medical Council Register in Geriatric Medicine.
  • Demonstrated experience in geriatric medicine within hospital and community settings.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Commitment to multidisciplinary and integrated care models.
  • Knowledge of HSE clinical governance and patient safety standards.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

  • Grade: Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine (1074)
  • Contract Type: Permanent, part-time (18.5 hours per week in each location).
  • Salary: As per HSE Consolidated Consultant Pay Scales (effective 1 August 2025) — applicable to grade 1074.
