Occupational Therapy Assistant – Cork University Hospital – Cork

Cork University Hospital (CUH) is inviting applications for a Permanent Wholetime Occupational Therapy Assistant (Grade 6505). This position supports the hospital’s Occupational Therapy Department in delivering high-quality patient care across a variety of clinical settings. Open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants, this role offers the opportunity to contribute within Ireland’s largest university teaching hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support qualified Occupational Therapists in patient rehabilitation and daily functional activities.
  • Assist with treatment setup, mobility exercises, and adaptive equipment provision.
  • Maintain clinical records and assist in patient progress documentation.
  • Ensure infection control and patient safety protocols are followed at all times.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • QQI Level 5 qualification (or equivalent) in Healthcare Support or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or therapy assistant setting is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and patient-centred care.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

  • Grade: Occupational Therapy Assistant (Code 6505)
  • Salary Scale: In line with HSE consolidated pay scales effective 1 August 2025 (as per Department of Health Circular 6/2025).
  • Contract Type: Permanent Wholetime
  • Working Hours: 37 hours per week (approximate)
