Clinical Nurse Manager 2 Shift Leader – HSE – Wexford General Hospital

Wexford General Hospital, part of the Health Service Executive (HSE) Dublin and South East region, is seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (Shift Leader) to join the Emergency Department team. This is a permanent, whole-time position offering an opportunity to lead, coordinate, and support emergency care delivery in a dynamic clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage nursing staff to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Coordinate clinical operations and emergency response within the department.
  • Support implementation of HSE policies, protocols, and quality improvement plans.
  • Monitor performance, staffing levels, and clinical outcomes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient experience and outcomes.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and support for professional development of staff.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Minimum 5 years post-registration experience, including emergency/acute care.
  • Proven leadership and shift management experience at CNM2 level or equivalent.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and patient-centred care.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

Salary: €61,463 – €77,666 per annum (as per HSE Consolidated Pay Scales effective 1 August 2025).
Employment Type: Permanent Wholetime
Benefits: Public sector pension, annual leave, continuing education, and HSE benefits.
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week; variable shift pattern including nights and weekends.
