Candidate Clinical Nurse Specialist – Acute Haematology Oncology – Cork University Hospital, Cork

Cork University Hospital (CUH) is inviting applications for the post of Candidate Clinical Nurse Specialist (Acute Haematology Oncology), based in Wilton, Cork. This is a permanent whole-time position within the HSE South West region, open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced nursing care and clinical leadership within the Acute Haematology Oncology service.
  • Deliver patient-centred care and contribute to multidisciplinary team planning.
  • Support the development of evidence-based oncology and haematology nursing practice.
  • Lead on patient education, assessment, and care coordination.
  • Participate in audit, research, and service improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with consultants, CNMs, and other allied health professionals to optimize patient outcomes.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Registered General Nurse with NMBI.
  • Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience, including 2 years in Haematology/Oncology.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Haematology, Oncology, or related specialty (or commitment to undertake).
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership and evidence-based practice.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical-thinking skills.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

  • Grade: Clinical Nurse Specialist Candidate (General) – Grade Code 2697
  • Salary Scale (effective 1 August 2025): €61,463 – €77,666 per annum (as per Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales).
  • Contract Type: Permanent Whole-Time
