The Health Service Executive (HSE) is inviting applications for the position of Emergency Medicine Registrar for the January 2026 rotation at Mayo University Hospital. This is a fixed-term, full-time post within the HSE West and North West region. The role offers the opportunity to work in a busy and dynamic emergency department serving the Mayo community.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality patient care in the Emergency Department.
• Assess, diagnose, and manage a variety of acute and chronic conditions.
• Participate in departmental audits, teaching, and research.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in on-call and rostered duties as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Active registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC).
• Valid OET or IELTS exam results (where applicable).
• 3–5 years’ experience in Emergency Medicine.
• Completion of at least two parts of the MRCEM exam (essential).
• Current BLS and ACLS certification.
• Previous experience in Ireland or the UK (desirable).
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary is in line with the HSE consolidated pay scales effective 1 August 2025 for grade code 1538 Registrar:
€68,891 – €81,126 per annum (6 points).
