Cork University Maternity Hospital (CUMH) is inviting applications for the role of Staff Nurse / Staff Midwife (Theatre), reference CUMHM88442. This permanent, whole-time position offers an exciting opportunity for both HSE and non-HSE applicants to join one of Ireland’s leading maternity hospitals within the HSE South West region.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide safe, high-quality, and compassionate nursing and midwifery care in line with hospital and HSE standards.
• Deliver evidence-based care in the operating theatre and maternity units.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes for patients and their families.
• Participate in the implementation of hospital policies, protocols, and initiatives to enhance patient safety and service quality.
• Support student midwives and nurses in clinical practice and contribute to continuous professional development.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) as a Registered Midwife.
• Proven clinical competence in midwifery and/or theatre nursing.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to continuous professional education and high standards of patient care.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Grade: Staff Midwife (Code 2143)
According to the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales (effective 1 August 2025), annual salary ranges from €37,288 to €55,477 per annum, depending on experience, plus allowances as applicable under HSE guidelines.

Working hours: Standard HSE full-time hours, with flexibility for shift and theatre scheduling.
