The Health Service Executive (HSE) is inviting applications for the role of Hospital Sterile Services Department (H.S.S.D.) Operative at Portiuncula University Hospital, Ballinasloe, County Galway. This is a permanent, whole-time position within the General Support category under grade C.S.S.D. Operative 5785. The successful candidate will support critical decontamination and sterilisation processes essential to patient safety and infection prevention.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate and maintain sterilisation and decontamination equipment in accordance with HSE standards.
• Ensure the safe and effective cleaning, packaging, and sterilising of medical instruments and devices.
• Record and monitor cycle data, maintaining strict traceability and quality control documentation.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control protocols at all times.
• Liaise with clinical teams to ensure the timely provision of sterile supplies.
• Participate in audits, equipment testing, and staff training as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Experience in a healthcare or sterile services environment preferred.
• Knowledge of decontamination and sterilisation procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
