The Health Service Executive (HSE) Dublin and North East invites applications for the position of Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon (Ref: BNOROR05) based in Dublin North. This is a permanent, whole-time post suitable for both HSE and non-HSE applicants, offering an opportunity to contribute to specialist orthopaedic services in a major teaching hospital network.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive trauma and orthopaedic surgical care across designated hospital sites.
• Manage acute and elective orthopaedic cases with a focus on patient safety and clinical excellence.
• Lead multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to service development and audit.
• Supervise and train non-consultant hospital doctors and other healthcare professionals.
• Participate in on-call rotas and emergency orthopaedic care.
• Engage in research, quality improvement, and teaching in partnership with academic institutions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration on the Specialist Division of the Medical Council Register in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery.
• Extensive experience in trauma and orthopaedic surgical practice.
• Proven leadership and communication skills in a hospital environment.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and teaching.
• Eligibility to work in Ireland and compliance with HSE recruitment standards.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Grade 1716 salary scale per Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (effective 1 August 2025).
• Full-time, permanent post under the HSE Public Service Agreement.
• Pension and annual leave entitlements per HSE terms and conditions.
• Working hours: 37 hours per week (Wholetime Contract).
