The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking applications for the position of Consultant General Surgeon with a special interest in Paediatric Surgery (Reference: LDGSKS06). This is a permanent, whole-time position located in County Louth within the HSE Dublin and North East region.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide consultant-level surgical services in general and paediatric surgery.
• Lead and participate in multidisciplinary care of paediatric and general surgery patients.
• Deliver clinical leadership within the department and support continuous quality improvement.
• Supervise and train Non-Consultant Hospital Doctors (NCHDs) and other medical staff.
• Participate in the on-call rota as required by service needs.
• Ensure compliance with HSE clinical governance and patient safety standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration on the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of surgery.
• Experience and/or fellowship training in paediatric surgery.
• Strong leadership, teaching, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based clinical practice.
• Eligibility to work in Ireland and compliance with HSE employment requirements.

• Permanent, whole-time position.
• Salary as per Department of Health Consolidated Consultant Pay Scales effective 1 August 2025 (Circular 6/2025).
