The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Manager II (Bainisteoir Altraí Cliniciúla 2) to join the Trauma Centre, Theatre Suite at Merlin Park University Hospital Galway. This permanent wholetime role offers a leadership opportunity within a dynamic acute hospital environment. The successful candidate will support safe, high-quality perioperative care and coordinate nursing activities across a busy theatre service.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead, support, and supervise nursing staff within the Trauma Centre and Theatre Suite.
• Ensure delivery of safe, patient-centred and evidence-based care.
• Manage theatre operations, staffing, and allocation to maintain service efficiency.
• Promote effective multidisciplinary collaboration and communication.
• Support quality improvement, audit, and compliance with HSE clinical and governance standards.
• Contribute to staff development, performance planning, and training initiatives.
• Maintain accurate documentation, risk management procedures, and incident reporting.
• Uphold infection prevention and control practices within the theatre environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered General Nurse with NMBI.
• Minimum of 5 years post-registration nursing experience.
• Significant experience in theatre/perioperative nursing.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory capability.
• Strong communication, organisational, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute hospital setting.
• Knowledge of HSE policies, standards, and clinical governance requirements.

• Salary aligned with the HSE Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (Grade Code 2119) scale effective 1 August 2025.
