The Health Service Executive (HSE) invites applications for a Consultant Psychiatrist (Adult, Psychiatry of Learning Disability) based in MHS Wexford. This permanent wholetime role is a key senior clinical position within the HSE Dublin and South East Health Region. The successful candidate will contribute specialist leadership, high-quality clinical care, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver specialist psychiatric assessment and treatment for adults with learning disabilities.
• Provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team within MHS Wexford.
• Contribute to service planning, development, and governance across the Psychiatry of Learning Disability service.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Provide consultation, supervision, and support to junior medical staff and other clinical colleagues.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with HSE policies and standards.
• Participate in the on-call rota as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered (or eligible for registration) on the Specialist Division of the Irish Medical Council in Psychiatry of Learning Disability.
• Demonstrated experience in the assessment and treatment of adults with learning disabilities and complex psychiatric needs.
• Strong communication, leadership, and team-working skills.
• Commitment to high-quality, safe, person-centred care.
• Eligibility to work in Ireland and compliance with all HSE employment requirements.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• HSE Consultant salary scale applies (per Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales).
• Permanent wholetime position, 37 hours per week.
