Health Service Executive (HSE) is recruiting a Clinical Nurse Specialist Candidate for the Epilepsy Service at Sligo University Hospital. This permanent, full-time role offers an excellent opportunity to advance your specialist nursing career within a busy acute hospital setting. Salary is aligned with the 2025 HSE Clinical Nurse Specialist Candidate scale.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centred epilepsy care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
• Support the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of specialist nursing interventions
• Assist in the coordination of epilepsy services to improve patient pathways and continuity of care
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to audit and quality initiatives
• Participate in service development, education, and evidence-based practice improvements
• Engage in ongoing professional development and meet competency requirements for CNS Candidate roles
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered General Nurse with NMBI registration
• Minimum of 3 years post-registration clinical experience (desirable in neurology, epilepsy, or acute services)
• Proven ability to deliver safe, effective, compassionate care
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
• Commitment to specialist training and professional development
• Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• HSE Clinical Nurse Specialist (Candidate) salary scale (effective 1 August 2025): approx. €61,463–€77,666 per annum, including LSI where applicable
