The Health Service Executive (HSE) is recruiting a Consultant Neurologist (Ref: MNEU5718) to provide specialist neurological care across Wexford General Hospital and University Hospital Waterford. This permanent wholetime post offers a high-impact clinical leadership role within the South East region. The position is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality consultant-level neurology services across both sites
• Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and management of neurological conditions
• Lead and support multidisciplinary care pathways
• Participate in on-call commitments as required
• Contribute to service development, clinical governance and quality improvement
• Supervise and mentor NCHDs and other clinical staff
• Engage in teaching, research and continuing professional development
• Work collaboratively within the wider HSE Dublin and South East region
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered or eligible for specialist registration with the Irish Medical Council
• Extensive clinical experience in neurology at consultant or senior specialist level
• Strong leadership, communication and multidisciplinary team skills
• Commitment to high-quality patient care and continuous improvement
• Eligibility to work in Ireland and compliance with HSE recruitment standards
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Grade: Consultant Neurologist (1104)
• Employment type: Permanent Wholetime
• Hours: 22 hours per week at Wexford General Hospital and 15 hours per week at University Hospital Waterford
• Salary: As per HSE Consultant pay scales (1 August 2025)
