The Health Service Executive (HSE) invites applications for a Locum Consultant Physician in Endocrinology and Diabetes Mellitus at Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar, County Mayo. This full-time, fixed-term post is available immediately until a permanent appointment is made by the Public Appointments Service.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide specialist medical care in Endocrinology, Diabetes Mellitus, and General (Internal) Medicine.
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated care.
• Contribute to outpatient clinics, ward rounds, and inpatient consultations.
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives and clinical governance activities.
• Provide supervision and training to Non-Consultant Hospital Doctors (NCHDs) and allied health professionals.
• Participate in on-call duties as required by Mayo University Hospital.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration as a Specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in Endocrinology and Diabetes Mellitus and General (Internal) Medicine.
• Proven clinical experience at consultant level in a hospital or integrated care setting.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
• Strong commitment to patient safety and clinical excellence.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
The salary is in accordance with the Department of Health Consolidated Consultant Salary Scales effective 1 August 2025.
Consultant Physician Scale: €228,331 – €273,501 per annum (pro rata) depending on experience and placement on the scale, per Department of Health Circular 6/2025.
Employment Type: Fixed Term, Wholetime.
Working Hours: 37 hours per week, full-time contract.
