The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking an experienced Chief Physicist (Radiotherapy) to lead radiotherapy physics services at Galway University Hospitals. This permanent wholetime role offers an excellent opportunity for a senior clinical physics professional to guide advanced radiotherapy programmes and support multidisciplinary care. Applicants from both HSE and non-HSE backgrounds are welcome.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead, develop and implement major radiotherapy physics programmes within a multidisciplinary setting
• Oversee delivery and development of external beam radiotherapy and brachytherapy services
• Provide expert oversight in radiotherapy physics dosimetry
• Address complex treatment planning issues and manage planning systems
• Initiate, participate in and complete research and development projects, including publication in peer-reviewed scientific literature
• Supervise and teach at both third-level and professional levels
• Manage delivery of a comprehensive radiotherapy physics service
• Provide leadership, mentorship and scientific guidance to multidisciplinary teams
• Drive service development and quality improvement initiatives
• Communicate complex scientific information clearly to scientific and non-scientific audiences
• Build effective collaborative relationships across professional and managerial levels
• Demonstrate strong organisational, prioritisation and time-management skills

Required Skills & Qualifications
• Significant experience in radiotherapy physics across EBRT and brachytherapy
• Advanced expertise in dosimetry and radiotherapy treatment planning systems
• Proven track record of research, development and scientific publication
• Experience mentoring, supervising and teaching at multiple levels
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage services within a clinical environment
• Excellent communication, analytical, organisational and teamwork skills
• Strong leadership, motivational and mentoring abilities

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Permanent, wholetime contract
• Salary in line with HSE consolidated pay scales for Chief Physicist (Radiotherapy)
• Standard HSE benefits, including pension, annual leave and allowances where applicable
• Full-time working hours aligned with HSE policy
