The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist (Mental Health – Liaison Psychiatry) to join its mental health services in Louth. This permanent wholetime post offers the opportunity to deliver specialist mental health care within an acute hospital liaison setting. Applicants from both HSE and non-HSE backgrounds are welcome.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide specialist mental health nursing assessment, intervention, and care planning
• Deliver advanced clinical support within a liaison psychiatry service
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across acute and community services
• Participate in nurse prescribing training and progress to Registered Nurse Prescriber status
• Maintain comprehensive clinical documentation and contribute to service development
• Support patient pathways, mental health promotion, and timely referral processes
• Travel between service locations as required
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered psychiatric nurse with NMBI registration
• Minimum experience at post-registration level in mental health services
• Demonstrated ability to work within liaison psychiatry or acute mental health settings
• Strong clinical decision-making and risk assessment skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational abilities
• Commitment to completing the Nurse Prescribing of Medicinal Products Certificate (where required)
• Full driving licence and access to transport
