Health Service Executive (HSE) South West is seeking a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist to join South Lee Mental Health Services in Cork. This is a specified purpose wholetime post with a strong focus on delivering high-quality, patient-centred psychiatric care across the service. The role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.

Key Responsibilities
• Deliver comprehensive consultant-led psychiatric assessment and treatment.
• Provide clinical leadership within the multidisciplinary mental health team.
• Contribute to service planning, development, and governance activities.
• Participate in on-call rota and risk management processes.
• Ensure high standards of clinical documentation, audit, and compliance.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support seamless patient care.
• Engage in teaching, supervision, and mentoring of junior medical staff.

Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration on/eligibility for the Specialist Division of the Medical Council Register in Psychiatry.
• Fellowship or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Psychiatry.
• Extensive experience in General Adult Psychiatry within acute and community settings.
• Strong communication, leadership, and clinical decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary service environment.
• Commitment to quality improvement and patient safety standards.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist (Grade 143Y) salary per HSE Consolidated Pay Scales (effective 1 August 2025).
• Full-time wholetime specified purpose contract.
• Access to public sector pension and benefits in line with national policy.
• Additional allowances paid where applicable under approved HSE guidelines.

Location & Employer Information
This role is based with South Lee Mental Health Services in Cork, part of HSE South West. The Health Service Executive is Ireland’s publicly funded health service, providing nationwide hospital and community care services. The post-holder will be a key clinical leader within Cork Mental Health Services.
