The Health Service Executive is seeking an experienced nursing leader to take on the pivotal role of Nurse Lead for the National Gender Healthcare Programme. Based nationally, this fixed-term part-time secondment offers a unique opportunity to influence service design, clinical governance, and strategic development in a rapidly evolving specialty area. This senior post is open to Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Directors of Nursing grades.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide national clinical leadership for the Gender Healthcare Programme
• Lead on service development, quality improvement and policy implementation
• Oversee clinical governance, risk management and evidence-based practice
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary and cross-agency teams across Ireland
• Support workforce planning, training and education initiatives
• Contribute to national reporting, audits, and strategic planning
• Represent the Programme at national forums, committees and stakeholder meetings
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered Nurse or Midwife with active NMBI registration
• Eligible nursing grade:
• Advanced Nurse Practitioner (General/Mental Health/Community/Intellectual Disability/Children’s)
• Assistant Director of Nursing (Band 1)
• Director of Nursing 1 – Assistant
• Significant senior clinical leadership experience
• Proven expertise in service development and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Strong governance, communication and stakeholder-engagement skills
• Experience working within HSE structures and national programmes is desirable
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Grade-dependent salary in line with HSE Consolidated Salary Scales (effective 1 August 2025), e.g.:
• Advanced Nurse Practitioner: approx. €71,408–€88,123 per annum (pro-rata)
• Fixed-term, part-time secondment (grade-for-grade; existing terms maintained)
• Standard HSE benefits including pension, leave entitlements and professional development
• Interviews scheduled shortly after the closing date
