Regional Hospital Mullingar is recruiting a Clinical Midwife Manager 2 (Ultrasound Sonographer) for a permanent whole-time position within its busy Maternity Unit. This senior post offers the opportunity to lead and deliver high-quality ultrasound services while shaping best practice in maternity care across Westmeath. Salary is aligned to the HSE Clinical Midwife Manager 2 scale.

Key Responsibilities
• Perform and oversee ultrasound scanning including Early Pregnancy (TVS/TAS), Dating, Anatomy, Growth, and reassurance scans.
• Provide clinical leadership and support to midwifery and maternity staff within the ultrasound service.
• Promote excellence in patient care, safety, communication, and multidisciplinary teamwork.
• Contribute to service development, audit, quality initiatives, and evidence-based practice.
• Support education, training, and supervision of midwives and students within the unit.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with HSE policies and protocols.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered Midwife with the NMBI.
• Significant depth and breadth of ultrasound experience relevant to maternity care.
• Competence in early pregnancy scanning (TVS/TAS), fetal assessment, and routine obstetric sonography.
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development — willingness to undertake a Masters in Ultrasonography.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic multidisciplinary environment.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
HSE Clinical Midwife Manager 2 (Grade 2132) Salary Scale
(Effective 1 August 2025)
• €61,463–€75,405 per annum
• LSI: €77,666
Contract Type: Permanent whole-time
Hours: 37 hours per week (HSE standard)
