The HSE is recruiting a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist to join its specialist women’s health team in County Louth. This permanent whole-time post offers an opportunity to lead clinical services, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to the continued development of maternity care across the Dublin and North East health region.

Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality obstetric and gynaecological services within the assigned hospital and community settings.
• Provide consultant-led care in labour ward, antenatal, postnatal, and gynaecology clinics.
• Manage emergency obstetrics and gynaecology cases as part of the on-call rota.
• Lead and supervise NCHDs, midwives, and allied health professionals.
• Ensure adherence to clinical governance, patient safety, and HSE service standards.
• Contribute to service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Participate in teaching, research, and continuous medical education activities.
• Work collaboratively with regional maternity and gynaecology networks.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered as a Specialist in Obstetrics & Gynaecology with the Irish Medical Council (IMC).
• Extensive post-registration experience in obstetrics and gynaecology, including emergency care.
• Proven leadership, clinical governance, and decision-making capabilities.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and mentoring skills.
• Eligibility to work in Ireland and meet Consultant appointment criteria per HSE/DoH guidelines.

• Permanent whole-time contract through the Health Service Executive.
• Standard HSE consultant conditions, protected CPD arrangements, and pension scheme.
• On-call commitments as rostered.
• Additional allowances may apply per contract type (HSE Consultant Contract).
