The Health Service Executive is seeking a Consultant Physician in Endocrinology and Diabetes Mellitus (Ref: BNGMEN10) to deliver specialist clinical services across the Dublin North health area. This senior, permanent wholetime post offers an opportunity to lead complex endocrine and diabetes care while working collaboratively with regional multidisciplinary teams.
Table of Contents
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver consultant-level endocrine and diabetes clinical services across Dublin North
• Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, and long-term management of endocrine disorders
• Lead service improvements in diabetes management and integrated care pathways
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical governance activities
• Contribute to training, supervision, and mentoring of NCHDs
• Engage in audit, research, and quality-improvement programmes
• Participate in the consultant on-call rota as required
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered as a specialist in Endocrinology under the Specialist Division of the Irish Medical Council
• Extensive clinical experience in Endocrinology and Diabetes Mellitus
• Proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary, patient-centred environment
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
• Experience in service development, audit, and quality improvement
• Eligibility to work in the Republic of Ireland
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary: Based on HSE Consultant Contract 2023.
According to the August 2025 Pay Scales document, Consultant Contract 2023 salaries range from €183,913 to €239,400 (effective 1 August 2025) depending on scale point and experience.
