Galway University Hospitals is seeking a dedicated Laundry Worker to join its essential General Support team. This permanent, wholetime role offers a stable opportunity within the Health Service Executive (HSE) for both HSE and non-HSE applicants. The position is based in Galway and plays a key role in maintaining high hygiene standards across the hospital.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate industrial laundry equipment safely and efficiently
• Sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute hospital linens according to infection-control standards
• Maintain accurate laundry stock levels and report shortages
• Ensure compliance with all HSE hygiene, safety, and quality protocols
• Transport clean and soiled items between wards and laundry areas
• Perform routine cleaning of laundry machinery and workspaces
• Support colleagues to ensure timely turnaround of essential linen supplies

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a laundry, industrial cleaning, or hospital support role (desirable)
• Strong understanding of hygiene and infection-prevention standards
• Ability to lift, carry, and move laundry loads safely
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Reliability and ability to follow structured procedures
• Flexibility to work in a busy, fast-paced environment

• Salary: HSE General Support grade – Laundry Worker (4900). Rate not supplied in the listing.
• Contract: Permanent Wholetime
• Working Hours: Standard HSE wholetime roster
