A permanent Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine role is now open across Bantry General Hospital, the West Cork Integrated Care Hub and Cork University Hospital. This senior post offers an excellent opportunity to shape specialist geriatric services within HSE South West.

Key Responsibilities
• Deliver comprehensive geriatric assessment and ongoing specialist care
• Lead multidisciplinary care planning across acute, community and integrated care settings
• Provide clinical leadership within Bantry General Hospital and partner sites
• Support development of age-related care pathways across West Cork
• Participate in on-call commitments and consultant rota as required
• Contribute to teaching, audit, research and quality improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered (or eligible for registration) with the Irish Medical Council on the Specialist Division – Geriatric Medicine
• Extensive post-registration experience in geriatric or acute general medicine
• Strong leadership capability in multidisciplinary and integrated care environments
• Proven ability to manage complex medical presentations in older adults
• Excellent communication, clinical governance and patient-safety focus
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• HSE Consultant salary scale (in line with national consolidated pay agreements)
• Permanent wholetime contract
• 37-hour working week across Bantry General Hospital (14.5 hours), West Cork Integrated Care Hub (18.5 hours) and Cork University Hospital (4 hours)
