Sligo University Hospital is recruiting a Theatre Operative to support high-quality patient care across its surgical services. This permanent, whole-time role within the Health Service Executive (HSE) offers stability, structured progression, and the opportunity to work in a dynamic clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing theatres, equipment, and instruments for surgical procedures
• Support theatre staff with patient positioning, transfers, and clinical workflow
• Maintain cleanliness, order, and stock rotation within theatre and recovery areas
• Safely handle, transport, and dispose of clinical materials
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards
• Provide general support to nursing and surgical teams as required
• Carry out duties in line with HSE policies and theatre protocols

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a patient-facing or clinical support role (theatre experience an advantage)
• Strong understanding of hygiene, safety, and infection-control procedures
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure
• Flexibility to work rostered shifts, including evenings or weekends if required

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

Grade: Theatre Operative (Code 6013)
Contract type: Permanent, Whole-time
Salary: As per HSE Patient & Client Care consolidated pay scales (1 August 2025)
• Access to HSE pension scheme, structured increments, and public-sector benefits
• Full-time rostered hours within theatre services
