Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise is seeking a Senior Pharmacist (Ceimiceoir Sinsearach) to join its pharmacy department on a specified purpose, wholetime contract. Reporting within the HSE Dublin and Midlands health region, this role offers the chance to lead clinical pharmacy services and contribute to safe and effective medication management across the hospital.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead and deliver high-quality clinical pharmacy services within Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise
• Oversee safe, evidence-based medication management across allocated clinical specialties
• Provide expert pharmaceutical advice to multidisciplinary teams
• Manage dispensary operations, stock control, audits, and regulatory compliance
• Support antimicrobial stewardship, medication safety initiatives, and quality improvement programmes
• Supervise, mentor, and support pharmacists, technicians, and students
• Contribute to policy development, governance, and service planning
• Participate in on-call or extended service rotas where required
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered (or eligible for registration) with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI)
• Significant post-registration pharmacy experience in a hospital or comparable clinical setting
• Demonstrated leadership, clinical judgment, and ability to work autonomously
• Strong communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
• Experience in service development, quality improvement, or clinical governance is an advantage

HSE Salary Scale (effective 1 August 2025):
• €75,527 – €87,584 across 8 incremental points
