University Hospital Waterford is recruiting a Theatre Porter (Ref: 25UHWS0412) to support the smooth, safe and efficient running of theatre operations. This is a permanent wholetime post within the Health Service Executive (HSE), open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.
Table of Contents
Key Responsibilities
• Transport patients safely to and from theatre areas
• Prepare trolleys, equipment and theatre spaces as directed
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and infection control
• Assist theatre staff with non-clinical tasks to support procedures
• Manage movement of specimens, supplies and essential equipment
• Respond promptly to requests from the Theatre Team and Portering Services
• Comply with all hospital safety, manual-handling and hygiene protocols
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Experience in a hospital or healthcare support role is an advantage
• Strong awareness of patient dignity, confidentiality and safety
• Ability to follow instructions in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Physical fitness suitable for a role involving lifting, transporting and walking
• Manual Handling training (or willingness to undertake training)
• Reliability, punctuality and a commitment to high-quality service
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary: HSE Consolidated Pay Scale applies (Theatre Technician/Porter Grade 5363)
