Mallow General Hospital is seeking a dynamic and experienced Principal Clinical Psychologist (Specialist – Obesity) to lead advanced psychological services within its specialist obesity pathways. This permanent, wholetime HSE role offers a senior leadership opportunity supporting complex care across Cork under HSE South West.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide strategic clinical leadership for psychological services within specialist obesity care
• Deliver high-level assessments, interventions and multidisciplinary support
• Guide service development, quality improvement and evidence-based practice
• Supervise, mentor and support psychology staff and trainees
• Collaborate with medical, nursing and AHP teams to coordinate integrated patient pathways
• Contribute to research, audit, and outcome measurement frameworks
• Ensure compliance with HSE governance, ethical standards and legislation
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Post-graduate professional qualification in Clinical Psychology (or recognised equivalent)
• Qualification aligned to HSE Grade 3727 – Principal Clinical Psychologist
• Extensive post-qualification clinical experience, including specialist expertise in weight management/obesity or related health psychology
• Demonstrated experience in leading teams and developing clinical services
• Excellent communication, supervision and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
• Eligibility for PSI (or equivalent) membership/registration
• Strong understanding of HSE frameworks, safeguarding and clinical governance
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
HSE Consolidated Pay Scale 1 August 2025 – Principal Clinical Psychologist (Grade 3727):
• €114,961 – €117,713 – €120,475 – €123,212 – €125,278 – €129,274 – €133,271 (LSI)
Contract: Permanent, Wholetime
