Portiuncula University Hospital is seeking an experienced Quality and Safety Manager (Grade VIII) to drive governance, compliance, and improvement initiatives across the hospital. This senior leadership role reports to the General Manager and plays a key part in ensuring safe, effective, patient-centred care. This is a permanent whole-time post open only to eligible HSE, TUSLA, Section 38, or statutory health agency employees.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the development and implementation of quality and patient safety systems
• Oversee incident management, risk assessments, and audit programmes
• Support directorates in meeting national standards and regulatory requirements
• Prepare reports for senior leadership, Saolta Group, and HSE governance structures
• Coordinate accreditation, compliance reviews, and quality improvement plans
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and clinical governance
• Engage with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient experience
• Manage the Quality & Safety department’s workload, priorities, and staff
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Eligible existing employee of the HSE, TUSLA, Section 38 body, or statutory health agency
• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in healthcare quality, safety, governance, or management
• Demonstrated knowledge of HIQA Standards, risk management, audit, and incident systems
• Proven experience in leading quality improvement and service development
• Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder-engagement skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a complex acute hospital environment
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Grade VIII Salary Scale (Code 0655), effective 1 August 2025:
€82,258 – €82,997 – €86,243 – €89,502 – €92,736 – €95,983 – €99,213 per annum (7 points, LSIs apply)
