Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar is recruiting a Consultant Cardiologist and General Physician to join its acute medical team. This permanent, whole-time post offers a leading specialist opportunity within the HSE Dublin and Midlands Health Region, delivering high-impact cardiology and general medicine services.

Key Responsibilities
• Deliver comprehensive cardiology and general internal medicine care
• Provide outpatient, inpatient, diagnostic and interventional cardiology services
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical governance
• Share responsibility for on-call cardiology and general medical rotas
• Support clinical leadership, service improvement and patient-safety initiatives
• Contribute to teaching, supervision and continued professional development of NCHDs and students
• Engage in research, audit and quality-improvement activities
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registered (or eligible to register) on the Specialist Division – Cardiology & General Internal Medicine with the Irish Medical Council
• Demonstrated clinical expertise in acute and chronic cardiology care
• Proven ability to manage complex caseloads across acute and elective pathways
• Strong leadership and communication skills within a multidisciplinary environment
• Evidence of commitment to continuous education, clinical audit and service development
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary: HSE Consultant Contract salary scales apply. Consultant pay scales (Type A/B/C, including settlement categories) range approximately from €203,358 to €300,138+ depending on contract type and scale point, as per August 2025 Pay Scales .
