Mayo University Hospital is seeking a highly experienced Cardiac Physiologist Chief II to join its expanding cardiac diagnostics service. This permanent, whole-time role offers an opportunity to lead specialised diagnostics and support high-quality cardiac care within the HSE West and North West region. Applicants from both HSE and non-HSE backgrounds are welcome.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the delivery of cardiac diagnostic services across the department
• Perform and interpret advanced cardiac investigations aligned with national standards
• Oversee service quality, clinical governance, and patient safety processes
• Provide expert guidance, mentorship, and supervision to physiologists and trainees
• Support coordination of departmental workflows, protocols, and equipment use
• Contribute to service development initiatives and technology enhancement
• Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient pathways

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Qualification in Cardiac Physiology (or equivalent recognised qualification)
• Registration and eligibility as required for practice within the HSE
Depth and breadth of post-qualification experience in cardiac diagnostics relevant to the role
• Demonstrated leadership capability at senior or supervisory level
• Strong clinical judgement with the ability to manage complex diagnostic cases
• Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

Grade: Cardiac Physiologist – Chief II (3002)
Contract: Permanent, wholetime
Salary: In accordance with HSE Consolidated Salary Scales (Health & Social Care Professionals) — current Chief II scale applies
