Tipperary University Hospital is seeking a dedicated Medical Scientist (Staff Grade) to support its multidisciplinary laboratory services. This permanent, whole-time role offers the opportunity to work across Blood Transfusion, Biochemistry and Haematology in a dynamic acute hospital environment. Applicants from both HSE and non-HSE backgrounds are welcome.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality analytical testing across designated laboratory disciplines
• Ensure accuracy, validation and timely reporting of results
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment to accredited standards
• Participate in quality management, audits and compliance processes
• Contribute to continuous improvement and adherence to ISO15189 requirements
• Support training and mentorship of colleagues and students as required
• Maintain strict compliance with safety procedures and infection-control protocols

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Science or equivalent recognised qualification
• Eligibility for CORU registration
• • Demonstrated depth and breadth of multidisciplinary experience in Blood Transfusion, Biochemistry and Haematology (role-specific requirement)
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and organisational skills
• Excellent communication and ability to work effectively within a team
• Commitment to continuous professional development and high clinical standards

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

Grade: Medical Scientist (3875)
Salary Scale (from 1 August 2025): €44,331–€73,667 LSI • Based on the consolidated HSE pay scale for Medical Scientist 3875
Contract: Permanent, Wholetime
• Public sector pension, leave and benefits apply
• Additional allowances where eligible, in line with HSE policy
