University Hospital Waterford is inviting applications for a Health Care Assistant position as part of a supplementary campaign (ref: 25UHWS1212). This permanent wholetime role offers an excellent opportunity to join the Health Service Executive and support frontline patient care in Waterford. This Health Care Assistant job forms part of a panel for current and future vacancies.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centred care to patients
• Assist with patient mobility, hygiene and daily living activities
• Support nursing staff in delivering safe, effective care
• Maintain a clean, safe clinical environment
• Observe and report changes in patients’ conditions
• Contribute to patient comfort, dignity and wellbeing
• Follow all HSE policies, procedures and infection-control standards

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a patient or client care environment (essential)
• QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support or equivalent desirable
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work effectively in a busy acute hospital setting
• Commitment to delivering high-quality care
• Reliability, professionalism and a patient-focused approach

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

Grade: Health Care Assistant (6075)
Contract: Permanent, Wholetime
Benefits: Public sector pension, career progression opportunities, paid leave, and access to HSE training programmes
Working hours: Full-time rostered hours, including potential nights/weekends depending on service needs

(Salary follows the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales as per the Patient & Client Care grades.)
