Cork University Hospital is inviting applications for a Senior Clinical Engineering Technician role based on-site in Cork. This permanent, whole-time post offers an excellent opportunity to work within a highly specialised clinical engineering service supporting critical medical equipment across one of Ireland’s busiest acute hospitals.

This Senior Clinical Engineering Technician job in Cork University Hospital is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and forms part of the HSE South West region.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, test, calibrate and repair a wide range of complex medical devices
• Support the safe operation of life-supporting and diagnostic equipment
• Lead and supervise technical staff where required
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, policies, and regulatory requirements
• Assist in equipment procurement, evaluation, and commissioning
• Liaise with clinical staff, suppliers, and external service providers
• Contribute to risk management, quality improvement, and audit processes

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Recognised qualification in Clinical / Biomedical Engineering or related discipline
• Significant post-qualification experience in a healthcare engineering environment
• Strong technical knowledge of medical equipment and systems
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills
• Eligibility to work in Ireland

• Salary in line with HSE Consolidated Salary Scales for Clinical Engineering Technician – Principal (Grade 3163)
