This is a permanent whole-time position, open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants, with the potential for a panel to be formed to fill future vacancies.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide senior nursing leadership across the Acute Floor / Emergency Medicine Directorate
• Lead and manage nursing teams to ensure safe, effective, high-quality patient care
• Oversee staffing, site management, and workforce planning
• Manage HR and Industrial Relations matters within the directorate
• Drive operational efficiency and service improvement initiatives
• Engage collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and senior management
• Contribute to strategic planning and hospital-wide service development
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies, governance, and regulatory standards
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration as a Nurse or Midwife on the NMBI Register
• Significant post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting
• Demonstrated senior nursing management experience
• In-depth experience of HR and Industrial Relations management
• Proven operational management expertise, including staffing and site management
• Strong leadership, communication, and change-management skills
• Experience working within complex, multidisciplinary environments
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Grade: Director of Nursing 1 – Assistant (Grade Code 2910)
• Salary Scale (from 1 August 2025): €71,408 – €88,123 per annum (9-point scale)
• Contract: Permanent, whole-time
