Job Overview

The Health Service Executive (HSE) is inviting applications for the position of Director of Nursing 2 – Assistant (Intellectual Disability Services). This is a senior nursing leadership role supporting the delivery, governance, and strategic development of Intellectual Disability Services across Sligo, Leitrim, South Donegal, and West Cavan.

A panel may be formed from which current and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies, on a full-time or part-time basis, may be filled.

This competition is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing leadership within Intellectual Disability Services
• Support the Director of Nursing in governance, quality, and safety of services
• Lead and support the implementation of New Directions for adult disability services
• Promote person-centred care, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance
• Contribute to workforce planning, service development, and change management

Eligibility & Requirements

Candidates must demonstrate:

• Significant depth and breadth of experience in Intellectual Disability Services
• Proven leadership and management capability at a senior nursing level
• Experience in implementing New Directions policy frameworks
• Professional registration as required for senior nursing posts
