An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Children’s Staff Nurse at Sligo University Hospital. This permanent whole-time role offers the chance to deliver high-quality, family-centred nursing care within a supportive paediatric environment as part of the HSE West and North West region.
This role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and is ideal for nurses passionate about children’s health and professional development within an acute hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to children and young people
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary paediatric team
• Support and educate families and carers in partnership-based care
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with HSE standards
• Adhere to infection prevention, safeguarding, and clinical governance policies
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration as a Children’s Nurse on the NMBI Register (or eligibility to register)
• Experience in paediatric nursing (acute hospital experience desirable)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to child-centred, family-focused care
• Eligibility to work in Ireland

• Salary: In line with HSE Children’s Staff Nurse pay scale (August 2025 consolidated scales)
