Job Overview

An exciting leadership opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Nurse Manager 1 – Intensive Care Unit at Letterkenny University Hospital. This senior nursing role offers the chance to lead and support a highly skilled ICU team while delivering exceptional, patient-centred critical care within a dynamic acute hospital environment.


Key Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and day-to-day management of the ICU nursing team
• Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based critical care
• Support staff development, supervision, and performance management
• Promote effective multidisciplinary collaboration within the ICU
• Monitor clinical standards, audit outcomes, and quality improvement initiatives
• Contribute to service planning and operational efficiency within the unit
• Act as a clinical resource and role model for best nursing practice


Required Skills & Qualifications

• Registered General Nurse on the NMBI Register
• Minimum post-registration experience, including relevant ICU/critical care experience
• Demonstrated leadership and people-management skills
• Strong clinical decision-making and organisational abilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Relevant postgraduate qualification in critical care or leadership (desirable)


Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

Salary Scale (Clinical Nurse Manager 1 – Grade 2127):
€56,642 – €66,705 per annum (based on an 8-point scale, effective from 1 August 2025)
